GrokBot: xAI's Always-On AI Agent
GrokBot gives you AI teammates with their own cloud computer. They sign into your tools, work across apps, and keep running 24/7 — even after you close your laptop.
What Is GrokBot?
GrokBot is xAI's always-on AI agent platform, released in early beta on August 11, 2026. Unlike traditional AI assistants that require an open chat window, it gives each bot its own persistent cloud computer — complete with a real browser, file system, and terminal. That means your agents keep working around the clock, completing tasks while you sleep or attend meetings, without any human keeping the session alive.
GrokBot is distributed jointly with Cursor following SpaceX's $60 billion acquisition of the popular AI coding editor. Access is bundled into several Cursor plans — Pro+ ($60/mo), Ultra ($200/mo), and Teams — as well as the standalone SuperGrok Heavy tier (~$300/mo). There is no separate subscription; access comes as part of a broader xAI or Cursor plan.
What sets GrokBot apart from competitors like ChatGPT agent mode or Manus is the depth of its persistence. Agents sign into your tools with real credentials, execute scheduled routines on a recurring basis, and coordinate in multi-bot workflows where several instances divide and conquer a complex project. The platform also supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), giving it access to a growing ecosystem of third-party integrations. Whether you need an agent monitoring your inbox, another managing code deployments, or a third handling customer research — GrokBot is built to run your background operations autonomously.
How GrokBot Works
Three steps from first login to a GrokBot running autonomously on your behalf.
Create a GrokBot
Spin up a new agent from your Cursor or SuperGrok dashboard. Each one gets its own isolated cloud machine with a browser, terminal, and persistent storage — ready to work as a dedicated AI teammate from day one.
Connect Your Tools
Authenticate with the services your bot needs — email, GitHub, Slack, databases, or any MCP-compatible integration. Credentials are stored securely, and the agent logs in like a real user, not a webhook or read-only API connection.
Delegate Work
Assign tasks, set up scheduled routines, or build multi-bot workflows. GrokBot runs autonomously 24/7, reports back with results, and keeps working even after you go offline. Check in whenever you need an update.
Key GrokBot Features
GrokBot packs six capabilities that separate it from traditional AI chat tools and lighter-weight agent platforms.
Persistent Cloud Computer
Every agent runs on a dedicated cloud machine with browser, file system, and terminal. Sessions never expire — the bot keeps working 24/7 without any human in the loop.
Tool Connectors
Authenticate with your real accounts — email, GitHub, Notion, Slack — and interact natively. No webhook hacks; the agent logs in and acts like a real user on your behalf.
Scheduled Routines
Set your agents to run tasks on a schedule — daily digests, weekly reports, hourly monitoring checks. Each routine executes automatically without you triggering a new session every time.
Multi-Bot Workflows
Run multiple GrokBot agents in parallel on different parts of a project. Bots can hand off results to each other, enabling complex pipelines that a single GrokBot instance cannot handle alone.
MCP Support
The platform supports the Model Context Protocol, letting you plug in third-party tools and data sources. The growing MCP ecosystem means the integration surface keeps expanding well beyond built-in connectors.
Cross-Platform
Manage your agents from macOS, iOS, Windows, or Linux desktop. Android support is coming soon. Because everything runs in the cloud, your bots keep working regardless of which device you use to check in.
